THE STORY
My great-great grandfather Jessie was resilient. The early death of his wife left him with 5 small children and an accident at the sawmill crippled one of his hands. He retired to California and built a house on Button Street. After his death, his wife wrote this letter to his daughters: “I think he was the noblest man I ever knew. We laid him to rest on a sunny slope facing the setting sun, and left him to rest covered with beautiful flowers.” Tulips will forever remind me of his story.
